Steinmetz, a man who has trained his mind to conjure objects and even living beings into existence, becomes obsessed with transcending the limits of his extraordinary gift. When the renowned brain surgeon Dr Holst refuses to perform the dangerous operation he believes will unlock that potential, Steinmetz creates an idealised duplicate to take the surgeon's place, unleashing a chilling battle over identity, reality and the pursuit of perfection.

Shot in luminous black and white and making evocative use of 1960s Danish locations, Manden der tænkte ting is a haunting, mind-bending science-fiction masterpiece that deserves to be rediscovered.

Remember Tomorrow, Cube's exploration of the lost utopias and dystopias promised by twentieth-century science fiction returns. This November, we're presenting a double bill of doubles, pairing this overlooked gem of Danish sci-fi with Gerry Anderson's first venture into live-action filmmaking after Thunderbirds; Doppelgänger (Journey to The Far Side of the Sun). Expect uncanny identities, fractured realities and futures that never quite arrived.
