"An inspired reimagining of EC Comics, H.P. Lovecraft, and Hammer Horror."

John Carpenter's brilliantly atmospheric horror classic rolls in just in time for scary season.

Reuniting with Halloween scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis, Carpenter assembles a stellar ensemble (including Curtis's mother Janet Leigh) to tell the tale of a mysterious, glowing fog that descends on a small coastal town - bringing with it a vengeful force from the town's past...

Although using cutting-edge visual effects - and of course featuring one of Carpenter's signature synth compositions - The Fog is at heart a delightfully old-fashioned ghost story, referencing Carpenter's favourite movies such as those by 40s horror maestro Val Lewton (screened at The Cube earlier this month).

"A masterful simplicity of style, a lonely and determined group of characters under siege, and a childlike sense of brooding fear that almost disappeared in the '70s...Carpenter's confidence is outrageous; the range of his models even more so (from Poe to RKO); and the achievement is all his own."
