Realist Alive returns to Cube for a two-part bonanza exploring the threshold of deconstructed and glitch music. Australian artist, composer and violinist Noneless debuts in Bristol, interweaving dissonantly classical music with industrial interpolations of hyperglitch, speedcore and breakcore. Zack Christ and Jim Kimchi rep Copenhagen's sincerely madcap brand of anarcho-electronics for the first time on these shores. Irish post-club prodigy 2manycolours headlines Act 2 in a kitted-out foyer, while live support comes from London's trashedbaby and Bath's Storm Neech. Slow Release, dark.eatr and tskali round out an unmissable bill for anyone curious as to the uncharted regions of contemporary electronic music.
Noneless [AU] - violinist and composer based in London, Noneless is an artist without parallel. Entwining the delicacy, atonality and motional musical structures of classical composition with an iconoclasm absorbing stuttering hyperglitch, extreme techno and plunderphonics, they have cultivated a sound exclusively their own. In September came their full-length The Night Before The World Began. A shifting, intenesely layered work, Noneless is here exploring hauntological strands of the re-interpreted classical alongside a dance music unrestrained by pattern, cut-up into fragments of noise and disjuncture. What accumulates is one of the year's most astonishing records, depicting a night without end nor beginning, cloaked in eerie and encouraging inscrutability. November 28 marks their Bristol debut.
Zack Christ [UK DEBUT] - For a lot of artists, to have succesfully pushed a mode to its outer edge would have been enough of an identity. That was what Zack Christ had done a couple years back. On the EP E(x)ternals, they found an upper-limit for the playful abrasion of hyperglitch, cratering avant-garde electronic composition in hyperactive passages of rupture, repeatedly dissolving and reconstituting what the form could be. Yet on the two albums that followed afterward, the floodgates opened. Underbearing and OKAY BLOOMER incorporate everything from anthemic synth-pop to mashed-up cybergrind, cosmically gloopy brostep to lo-fi emo. Don't sleep on the chance to hear a music you didn't even know there was.
Jim Kimchi [UK DEBUT] - Member of pioneering hyperglitch collective glitch.cool, Jim Kimchi has warped bass music beyond any boundary previously imagined. Over the last half-decade, JK has advanced into a realm where songs are places for conventional rhythmic or structural expectations to be unapologetically exploded into micro-suites of found sound, melody and shattering noise. 2025's Datra saw him fully distil his sound into a full-length opus. This year's A118 Sessions saw him exploring longer-form composition, conducing to a miraculous, jazz-inflected record, evolving this niche of IDM into a paean for the apparently infinite possibility-space of the DAW as toolbox. For his UK debut, Jim Kimchi comes equipped with a new A/V set unlike any other, premiered but a few times in his home city, that is a marvel of contemporary electronic music.
2manycolours [EN DEBUT] - Based in Meath, 2manycolours is an Irish producer and DJ. Intertwining the manic bricolage of post-club and dariacore, the maximalist disposition of trap and brostep, and the youthful sensitivity of lo-fi pop, their work is an amalgam of caustic excoriation, generic flexibility and melancholic emotionality. He has cut his teeth as a DJ supporting acts such as Iglooghost and Frost Children and mixing for avant-club beacons like Trauma Unit and BeQuiet. A prodigious talent, their set here represents a much belated EN debut.
trashedbaby - London-based producer trashedbaby's work enmeshes electroacoustics, industrial hardcore, screen composition and noise music. It's accurate that these four descriptors do not truthfully contain the dexterity of trashedbaby's work. The same track might in a matter of minutes blend blasted grime, gabber and the most metallic of ambient. Having recently delved more into audiovisual performance, Cube Microplex lends the perfect setting to experience their combination of hellishly implacable abrasion and exploratory sound art.
Completing the bill is Storm Neech, making a long overdue appearance at Realist with his live set of pummelling hardware-based IDM and avant-club. Dancefloor iconoclast tskali and savant of technoid cyberfutures dark.eatr venture b2b into their mutual realm of knavish hyperbeats, iridescent jerk and infective hardcore. On closing duties is the club debut of Slow Release, unveiling the continuum of dance music for apocalytpic, sculptural contemplation.
ACT 2 WILL BEGIN IMMEDIATELY UPON THE CONCLUSION OF THE FINAL SET IN THE AUDITORIUM. THE EVENT IS DESIGNED AS AN INTERACTION BETWEEN EACH SPACE AND ACT. WHILE TICKETS WILL BE SOLD FOR ACT 2 ONLY, IT IS ENCOURAGED THAT ATTENDEES EXPERIENCE THE EVENT IN ITS ENTIRETY.
