British cinema’s supreme provocateur turns Bram Stoker’s final novel into a pitch-black, sacrilegious riot.

Archaeology student Angus Flint unearths a giant snake skull in the Derbyshire countryside, accidentally waking up a very old local legend, and an even older hunger. Enter the impossibly seductive Lady Sylvia Marsh: a leather-clad priestess with a taste for virgins, pagan rituals, and generally making everyone's day considerably worse. Alongside Lord James D’Ampton (a baby faced Hugh Grant), Angus discovers that the mythical D’Ampton Worm may be rather less mythical than anyone would like.

Adapted from Bram Stoker’s famously reviled final novel, The Lair of the White Worm finds British cinema’s ultimate provocateur, Ken Russell, at his most gloriously unhinged. Equal parts garish folk horror, surrealist camp, and sacrilegious mockery of buttoned-down English decorum, it’s a pitch-black, hallucinogenic riot. What more could you want this spooky season?
