In’sive is a new important film about Bristol’s no-wave and experimental music scene. Shot with and about the musicians who shape it, the film brings together members of Ex Agent, Improv’s Greatest Hits, Broadsheets, Distraxi, Foot Foot, Dan Johnson, Evo Ethel, and others.

Many of the musicians involved will perform together after the screening, continuing the improvisation in real time on The Cube stage. There will also be short live sets from artists connected to the scene before and after the film.

Expect dissonant sax and piano, frantic guitars, tape textures, stripped-back drums, and sharp turns. These are artists described as “sitting restlessly between post-rock and free jazz” and “using improvised music to mix musical and social scenes”.

in’sive was created by Pablo Jiménez‑Moreno, a Bristol-based improviser and music enthusiast whose work explores the connection between sound, people, and space—whether architectural, urban, or shared.

This is a must for anyone tuned into Bristol’s experimental edge. It's about what happens when people show up for one another—on stage, in conversation, and in life.
