Evil Kitty: Voice Of The Seven Woods Rescore Of Sayat Nova (the Colour Of Pomegranates)

-
Fri 17 November 2006 // 20:00

(Fri 17th / 8pm / £6 adv)

Evil Kitty welcomes Voice of the Seven Woods! This enigmatic hand-carved skeletal-folk combo play of psych-scarred, meditative folk music combining trademark Anatolian and Indian instrumentation with traditional European sensibilities echoing the likes of Gabor Szabo, Amon Duul and Sandy Bull.
Since his early solo work, poly-instrumentalist Rick Tomlinson has enlisted the skills of a drummer in a quest to create the authentic sound typified by the likes of Terry Cox in Pentangle with an added rhythmic influence of 1970's Turkish Psychedelic bands. Drummer, Chris Walmsley, who has recorded with forward thinking groups like Broadcast and as part of Jane Weaver and the Meadows, is the perfect reactionary accompaniment to Ricks sporadic flirtations with time and tempo through baroque-jazz-rock, acid folk and South-Eastern psychedelia.

For this Bristol date, Voice of the Seven Woods will be performing as a three-piece with the addition of Pete Hedley on bass, and performing their live re-score of the cult film 'Sayat Nova' (The Colour of Pomegranates)

Full psychedelic progkrautfolk DJ support from the Evil Kitty crew - John Stapleton, Daddy Ya Ya, Andy Jenks and Zee-Man.
