Tickets: £8 adv, £10 door.
Hailing from Sweden, these 6 cosmonauts return to Bristol with their new album Kompost, out via the aptly named Rocket Recordings. With three long sold out LPs and a bunch of EPs behind them, these space cadets excel in laidback grooves, improvised jams, and kick arse riffs! On the right side of psych folk, with motorik beats, new singer/violinist Lisa Ekelund (of Katla infamy) helps take these veterans in a new sonic direction.
Visuals for Flowers Must Die tonight come courtesy of Johnny O'Rocket.
Joining them tonight we are very pleased to have a rare performance from Saddar Bazaar! No strangers to the Cube, these Heavy Heads play raga infused psych rock. Third album, Seventh Valley, sold out on the Great Pop Supplement last year rapidly. Its sitar led blues, drones and riffs through the mind with a dream like quality.
Also performing tonight is Stereocilia, a Bristol based guitarist and composer, John Scott. John uses his guitar, analog synths and live looping techniques to create dense, rich layers of sound. His live show is centred on a visual backdrop he has created, with the improvisation acting as a live soundtrack. 2016 saw the release of his second album ‘The Road to the Unconscious Past’ on Echoic Memory, whilst this year will see the release of three eps on the labels; Low Point, Champion Versions and Environmental Studies.
Capping off tonight on the decks we have the return of the Heavy Heads DJs, hailing from the Saddar Bazaar camp, who will be taking on DAUN from the Flowers Must Die camp. Let the psych battle commence!
