In the first of many Cube events exploring counter culture, we take a deep dive into the concept of the counter culture and its relevance today. We invite you to join us as we take the long view of those movements that have defined the counter culture throughout the ages.
Find out how counter culture links to the Myth of Prometheus and Abraham the smasher of idols and what it is that defines counter culture. Find out how the universal features of counter culture link up diverse moments in history such as the Sufis, Socrates, Zen, the Beats, Hippies and Ravers.
Coming back to Bristol Richard Jones from Tangent press will highlight the history of Bristol’s Counterculture from the Wild Bunch to Banksy and beyond.
We will then hear from our panel including Pete Webb (PC Press), Jude Hutchen (Activist and Artist) and Gen (Cube) about their personal experience of counter culture, its history and their thoughts on its relevance for today.
We will then open it out to you the audience to gain your views and experiences, how it has shaped you and what does it mean to be counter culture today in the fragmented world we live in. What comes out of this event will help us to shape the rest of the series.
So join us as we Tune in, Turn Up and Dive Down Deep into the counter culture.
