The weather warms, the clouds part, and the first part of Rohmer's seasonal tetralogy descends from the sky unto the Cube.

In 1990, French master of cinema Éric Rohmer inaugurated his 4 movie cycle, Tales of the Four Seasons, with this gorgeous work. Jeanne, a philosophy teacher, and Natacha, a music student, meet by chance and become friends fast after Natacha invites Jeanne to stay with her family at a country house. Seeing an opportunity to do away with her father's unsuitable girlfriend, Natacha hatches a plan involving her houseguest. Hijinks ensue.

Sumptuously photographed by Luc Pagès in a beautiful house with a dreamy garden, Rohmer's insight into interpersonal relations is as razor sharp as ever, and he crafts a superb atmosphere that will prepare you for a fantastic springtime. And don't forget, there are 3 seasons that come after spring, and 3 films that come after this one...
