Hurrah! We welcome back Deutscheselektronischemusikkraftpaket (German electronic music powerhouse) Barbara Morgenstern to the resonant chambers of the Cube. Barbara has a new album to share with you...
Listen to three tracks from the new album here!
We were last graced with her presence at the astounding Monika-Werkstatt event, where the Berlin-based all-female electronic label Monika Enterprise, founded by Gudrun Gut, brought four female-flavoured techno goddesses into the Cube's improvisational space, where they were influenced by the collaborative spirit of our very own in-house Orchestra.
Barbara Morgenstern moved from her hometown of Hagen to Berlin via Hamburg and quickly became a sensation with her unconventional sound that lies somewhere between electronic, songwriting and folk. The pop experts hadn't heard such enchanted music since the Canterbury sound (only the Canterbury scene didn't know any techno yet and was quite a men's club). It is not surprising that Barbara Morgenstern cooperated with her declared fan Robert Wyatt in 2008.
Unschuld und Verwüstung is about continuing in spite of everything, about a nevertheless despite the doubt, about the desire for a peace of mind. And even if it may seem increasingly impossible to us, about finally getting the wrong thing right! And, yes, if the world does not hand it over, then the conditions must be dreamed up. As far as the rescue of dream truths into our so-called reality is concerned, Barbara Morgenstern is a master.

Support on the night will be provided by Bristol's very own incomparable songwriting sorcerix and "Purveyor of Fine Flesh Pop for Abstracted Humans" Rosena (formerly Wenonoah). A long-time friend of the Cube and all its peoples who has played with artists as diverse as Richard Dawson, Daniel Higgs and Rozi Plain. The vibes on this one, honestly mate. You will be swept down a watery waterway into the stars and over the edge.
