Thana is a shy, mute seamstress living and working in the pressure cooker environment of New York's Garment District. On her way home from work one day, she is sexually assaulted by two different men in quick succession, the latter of whom she manages to incapacitate and kill. The mental trauma of the experience begins to manifest itself in her increasingly erratic behaviour, and slowly she begins to transform from silent victim into a violent revenge-seeker.

Having courted controversy with his earlier The Driller Killer, director-provocateur Abel Ferrara returned two years later with its gender-reversed sister film - a violent and unsettling slice of exploitation which has also endured as a key text in feminist film studies. Headed by a towering, singular lead performance from Zoë Tamerlis Lund, this remains, like Taxi Driver, a stark portrait of a city and a society mired in moral corruption.

Doors open 30 minutes before film start time.

Even if a screening is sold out, tickets are often available 30 minutes before the start of the film at the box office.
