Mind-bending visuals and moral panic from this psychedelic 80s horror par excellence, as we follow a researcher studying schizophrenia (based on psychiatrist and psychonaut John C Lilly) who follows his hunch "our other states of consciousness are as real as our waking states".
Jessup begins experimenting with sensory deprivation using a flotation tank, aided by two like-minded researchers. When Edward hears of a Mexican tribe that experiences shared illusion states, he travels to Mexico to participate in such a psychedelic ceremony, sparking a descent into the darkest corners of his psyche, flotation-task-induced visions of increasing intensity, and an unexpected physical transformation...
