THE REMARKABLE TALE OF ROBERT DESNOS
by Clare Murphy & Daniel Morden
Surrealist, Poet, Prisoner, Storyteller...
A concentration camp seems an unlikely backdrop for a wild night of fairytales for grown-ups, but when the poet, journalist & bouffon, Robert Desnos, is captured by the Nazis for spying for the French Resistance, his response is to organise clandestine storytelling gatherings.
As the horror of the camps grows, so does the dark enchantment, surreal comedy and transformative power of the stories, until the only question that remains is, what power does a clown in a concentration camp really have.
Funny, tragic, moving, and true The Remarkable Tale of Robert Desnos is an extraordinary exploration of countless other worlds and the power of the imagination to shape and affect reality.
DANIEL MORDEN is one of Europe's most popular storytellers. He has been telling tales for a living since 1989. He is best known for his duo performances of Greek myth with Hugh Lupton, and his dynamic fusion of spoken word and music with The Devil's Violin.
To experience Daniel Morden in full flight is an amazing thing. IAN MACMILLAN
