Truck driver Goro makes a stop at a small town where he encounters Tampopo, a young widow struggling to make her family-run ramen bar a success. Spying his culinary expertise she enlists his help, and they are soon joined by an eccentric group of foodie ronin who set about on a quest to help her find the perfect noodle recipe.

Tampopo is at once both a light-hearted look at the role food plays in our everyday lives and a deeper examination of its broader cultural significance. Described as the first ‘ramen western’ on its release (evidenced by playful nods to the likes of Shane and Seven Samurai), but also riffing on a multitude of other genres in a series of offbeat vignettes, this is a charming, idiosyncratic comedy and a playful paean to the joys of life, love and noodle soup.

Advance tickets are available up until 3 hours prior to the screening time. Even if a screening is sold out, tickets are often available 30 minutes before the start of the film at the box office.
