The members of long-running New York improv troupe The Commune find their relationships tested when one of them gets offered the opportunity of a lifetime.
Mike Birbiglia's second feature tells a story that will be familiar to anyone who has tried to make a success of their art, deftly portraying the tensions between personal ego and group dynamics that are involved in creative collaborations, and asking what it means to be successful. With an outstanding ensemble cast featuring Birbiglia, Keegan-Michael Key, Kate Micucci, Chris Gethard, and a particularly terrific performance from Gillian Jacobs. Despite landing on lots of Best of 2016 lists in the US (such as Vulture and Variety) and inspiring Questlove from The Roots to write this glowing piece on his Instagram, the film will not be receiving a theatrical release in UK cinemas. We have long been fans of Mike Birbiglia's work, having screened his first film back in 2014, and we are very happy to be able to bring this latest one to you.
We're very excited to say that the film will be preceded by a special live mini-adventure featuring characters from Closer Each Day - the world's longest running improvised narrative. Tickets available from Headfirst.
