Intense, zoned out meditations from Philadelphia based Fursaxa, who's out there on her own in the current wave of free folkers. Her live performance resembles a carefully observed pagan ritual complete with incense, hand percussion and eerie vocal incantations. Recently signed up to ATP after releases for Acid Mothers Temple and Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore, Fursaxa captures something of the spacious timelessness of medieval plainchant or Nico's harmonium drenched madrigals.
A welcome return to Bristol for Alexander Tucker (ATP), a unique English talent who assimilates fingerpicking guitar, crystal clear vocals and undercurrents of slo-mo doom riffage; plus murder ballads and forest laments from Oxford's Sharron Kraus who conjures up visions of Shirley Collins but is still able to add her own dark nuances to the mix.
