California teenagers struggle with independence, sexuality, money, maturity, and high school in Heckerling's adaptation of Cameron Crowe's novel. Stacy Hamilton (Leigh) is a young, innocent high-school student who seeks advice from her friend, the sexually outspoken Linda Barrett (Cates). Stacy takes a liking to timid simpleton Mark, but eventually hooks up with Mark's more confident best friend, Mike. When not concerning itself with these four, the film spends time with stoned surfer dude Jeff Spicoli (Penn) and his ongoing feud with history teacher Mr. Hand.

Surely one of the defining teen movie of '82, if not the entire decade, the film launched a lot of careers and also includes brief appearances from the likes of Nicolas Cage, Eric Stoltz, and Forest Whitaker. Perfect late night nostalgic fodder for the "Going Blank Again" generation.
