November’s HFVC salutes the sexually liberated 1970s with a double dose of free love cinema!
Our main feature is ‘The Telephone Book’, an unusual and comedic love story from 1971. Sarah Kennedy stars as free and easy New York girl Alice, who one day receives a random dirty phone call. Instead of being offended, she considers the call a serious work of art, and falls in love with the mystery caller.
Possessed by an urge to meet the man behind the voice, he tells her he’s in the telephone book…under the name ‘John Smith’. Alice then embarks on a surreal odyssey ticking off various John Smiths until she finds her man, who wears a pig mask disguise. Encountering various oddballs along the way, including a porn star and a subway flasher.
Be sure to stick around for sloppy seconds with another tale of the permissive society.
Hellfire DJs will be playing sexadelic tunes in the bar.
