Tickets: £5 / £4
A love story, and a portrait of the young Poles of the 1950s, the film tells the tale of two people meeting in a bar. They don't care about the future; their lives consist only of going out, playing jazz and having love affairs with no strings attached. The night begins for them with the simple aim of getting from small talk to bed. But as dawn approaches, what starts as an insignificant episode grows in meaning. While still an aspiring poet and student at Łódź National Film School, Jerzy Skolimowski (later co-author of Knife in the Water and director of Deep End and The Shout) co-wrote the film's screenplay and appears in the film in a bit part - as does his future collaborator, Roman Polański.
