10 years ago a couple of guys from Toronto tore a hole in a complacent alternative music scene with ferocious punk energy, irresistibly lascivious bass grooves and borderline pornographic boudoir narratives. For a while the trunk-toting faces of Jesse F. Keeler and Sebastien Grainger were everywhere you looked; they seemed guaranteed to take over the world. And then they broke up.

Five years after that acrimonious split – five years in which they didn’t speak a word to one another – the DFA machine began to rumble back into life. Their first reformation show descended into a literal riot – shields, horses, tear gas, the whole shebang – before they went on to tear Coachella 2011 to grateful bits. And finally, last month came the release of a phenomenal new record: 'The Physical World'. 'Life After Death From Above' captures a period the band thought would never come, through an intimate yet explosive lens.
