"Inside every one of us is a comedian, a cult leader, and an amateur rapper." So runs The Burning Hell's "Amateur Rappers", rocking up at the open mic in a storm of guitars and jokey profundity. Canada's cult indie-folk troubadours are led by Mathias Kom, described by the Globe and Mail as "Randy Newman and Cole Porter rolled into one, with one eye on the coming apocalypse and another on the neck of his ukulele".
On albums like Flux Capacitor (2011) and People (2013), The Burning Hell's blend of anti-folk, neo-klezmer and indie rock provides a perfect foil for Kom's baritone musings on everything from the accidents of birth to bummed-out Vikings and Back to the Future nostalgia in "a skewed cabaret-pop escapade as fun as it is sad" (NOW magazine).
Renowned for their frenetic, hilarious live shows, we're very happy to be hosting the Burning Hell's first visit to Bristol.
