THE SUN ALSO RISES

(Fri 30th / 8pm / £4)

Ex Mooz bassist Rasha Shaheen is hosting an evening of live music and
presenting her solo project. There will be random collaborations, art and projections.  An exclusive low-fi CD to the first 50 people who show up and join the mailing list.

Rasha Shaheen has evolved into a singer/songwriter and tonight she presents, an impressive and striking set of songs at the dawn of her new musical adventure.  An individual guitar style openly influenced by bass techniques and less obviously, her Egyptian roots. Cleverly arranged her music is gentle and coaxing then blows your head clean off.

Joe Volk (Singer of experimental rock band GONGA) arrives very unexpectedly on the Folk Scene... From low end and heavy to hushed vocals and well
defined guitar playing.  Little deaths and rebirths evoking times gone by. Andrea Hernandez plays hypnotic guitar loops and sings songs that are simple and beautiful and honest.  You can hear the wrecked expectations of the little girl lost and found and how she^Òs been getting more playful.

Emily Breeze - The scourge of Montpelier, saloon chanteuse, angelic cynic. Clever guitar riffs and licks developed from the bleakness of insomnia and restless fingers, smacking of record obsession and long conversations with Beefheart and Bukowski.  A blues experience from somewhere near the Cadbury House, she stumbles into the cube, twisted and shiny like a spent beer can. Emily, Rasha and Katya will be playing tunes from their bedroom collection for a grand finale.

Plus Cube DJ's playing softly softly in the bar.
