Rarely seen in this country, this documentary follows Lars Von Trier,
Thomas Vinterberg, Kristian Levering and Søren Kragh-Jacobsen as they attempt to make films while adhering to the strict manifesto they penned.
The unnerving intimacy of their films has compelled dozens of diverse filmmakers to apply for the Dogme stamp on their work, forcing the closure of the Dogme office. Their manifesto contained the rule “Genre movies are not acceptable,” yet it became clear that Dogme has become a genre in itself. Still unseen outside of film festivals, THE PURIFIED could be the final, though unchaste by the manifesto’s standards, Dogmefilm.
