The London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival on Tour 2004

The London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival tour comes to the Cube for the first time and we're doing it our way. It's a mini-festival with features, shorts, parties and even a raffle?! We want you to be part of it, so come shake your thang, bring your own film, bring a friend, and see some films. This is the initial event in what we hope to develop into a regular queer film night at the Cube so tell us what you want to see happen.

THE EVENT + opening party
(Thom Fitzgerald/Canada/2003/112 mins)
(Sat 7th from 7.30pm/£4/£3)

The Event is arguably the most significant movie about Aids since Longtime Companion, raising the morally challenging question: should you have the right to choose the time and place of your own death?
Matt's HIV drug regime is failing, but he wishes to take one final cocktail in the safe company of his family and friends. Parker Posey plays Nick, a district attorney who investigates his death. His mother, played by Olympia Dukakis, is central to the investigation and indeed the film, and she delivers an
outstanding performance. The film is a big weepy and has played to standing ovations around the world. Rarely captured on screen, its narrative breaks a veil of silence and ignorance and takes us on an inspirational journey.
Followed by a party in the bar with music from Wonky's DJ Bernie.
