IKU (2000)
1 hr. 28 min.

Best described as a Japanese porn movie heavily inspired by Blade Runner,(it starts where Blade Runner ends), I.K.U. stars a bunch of Japanese women as a kind of sex robot, tasked with seeking out sexual experiences and reporting back to headquarters with their findings .
In 20XX the trendier way to have sex is "Assist sex. People gain sexual pleasures by using tools to attain orgasm virtually."
The Genom generation have finished their final stages of the IKU project and send their "reiko" out on a mission of sexy role play.
A colourful mix of a science-fiction movie and a porn film, with one or two or three original ideas in every scene, and a sex savvy vocabulary, this is a movie you must not miss. In IKU the word is sex not love.

If I.K.U. isn't the ultimate "adult" party film, I don't know what is.

We are very delighted to have director Shu Lea Cheang here. Shu Lea Cheang is a true modern day nomad artist running from city to city with her power book and making art installations for permanent collections at the Guggenheim Museum, NYC, The Walker Art Center Minneapolis, and all over the world at Biennales and media art festivals. She's in town to collaborate with The Cube Skate Team and others on her latest Richair 2030 project. Shu Lea will be informally interviewed
by Independent Heroine co-curator Lady Lucy.
