RASPBERRY REICH
(Bruce LaBruce/Germany/2004/90mins)
(Tues 10th/7.30pm/£4/£3)

The Canadian indie hero's latest offering is arguably less incendiary than his last one, 'Skin Flick'. This time round the story is of a gay terrorist group loosely based on the Baader Meinhof gang of 70s Germany who try and bring on the revolution through boy-on-boy action. But Brucie's trademark mix of hardcore pornographic images, shockingly (and purposefully?) bad acting, debatable pace and unfathomable narrative sidesteps is still the meat of Raspberry Reich. Indeed, cum shots are followed by ideological statements writ large across the screen; a favourite- 'Heterosexuality is the opiate of the masses'. Which of course it is. When Raspberry Reich screened at Sundance some of the audience walked out. So be prepared.
