LAST RESORT plus MY LIFE AS A REFUGEE

Last Resort (dir. Pawel Pawlikowski, 2001, UK) Tanya (Dina Korzam), a Russian book illusrtator, arrives in the aiport with her ten year old son expecting to be met by her British fiancee. He does not show up and she is taken to a refugee centre where she must wait while her status and claim are processed. The worker in a local amusement arcade, (Paddy Considine) is enchanted by Tanya's beauty and does his best to alleviate the bleakness of her and her son's situation. Tanya is
not from a poor or subjugated background, but despite being from the
Russian bourgeosie she is still a refugee and the film examines her
plight without judegemnt.
