FAHRENHEIT 9/11
(Fri 13th-Thurs 19th @ 7pm + Fri 13th-Tues 17th @ 9pm / £4/3/2ttt)
(Moore / 2004 / USA / 122 mins / 35mm / cert 15)

Fuck Spiderman 2. This is the biggest release of the summer with a number in it, and in this case it's 'the temperature at which freedom burns'. Michael Moore's inflammatory new documentary encourages- nay, demands- critical thinking. The charges in the film will not come as news to those who pay attention to politics, but Moore illustrates his points without preaching or hammering home his opinions- perhaps a more disciplined approach than his previous doc's BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE and ROGER & ME.

With it's chapter like structure, we spend quality time with the mother whose son is killed during service in Iraq shortly after writing home bemoaning a misbegotten war. Then there's the footage of Bush lingering some seven minutes in a nursery classroom after being informed of the twin towers attack. We've all seen the press for this Palm D'Or winner, but the only review that can truely count will be published on November 2nd- U.S. Election Day.

Thursday 19th August / 9pm / Free event in the bar/garden
For those who see F911 at any point over the week and are left with questions or ideas for the future, and following the closing screening of F911 at the Cube of this film run , Bristol Indymedia will facilitate a discussion of the issues raised in the film - for anyone with an interest in what happens next."
