Sheesham & Lotus & Son are renowned as one of the hottest and most entertaining old-time bands on the circuit, delivering visual delights as much as a virtual musical kick up the pants as they transport audiences to rumbustious times when self-proclaimed quacks flogged snake oil as a miracle cure-all for everything from broken bones to broken hearts in those frontier settlements where the men were wild and women were wilder.

Sheesham and Lotus Trio - ' Givin It Away ' - Live in an Orchard on Wolfe Island from Lenny Epstein.

Ever since they caused everyone’s jaw to drop at the big Folk Alliance International event in Toronto, and after their 1929 album was so well received over here, it seems that everyone is developing a S&L&S habit!

fRoots magazine raved about them as “wondrous old-time stylists – a modern-day Mississippi Sheiks” and told readers they had been the stand-out highlight of a big showcase event in Toronto. The americanaUK website said they were “riotous fun” and Maverick magazine said simply: “Hugely entertaining – they stole the show!”

Bob Harris is a fan and told listeners to his BBC Radio 2 show: “This is lovely sepia-tinted music and I absolutely adore it.”

“Tremendous – incredibly refreshing!” said AmericanRootsUK while Acoustic magazine described them as “a riotous dusty string-band - epic”.
