Wildermann Costume Workshop
-
Sat 14 December 2013 // 15:00
Sat 14th and Sun 29th December, 2pm, £TBC
Come and shake the pine needles out of your slippers and stick them onto your disturbingly tall head instead.
As a run up to the Cube's Wildermann themed New Year's Eve fund-raiser, we are gathering to create shamanistic full body costumes.
Two informal workshops to build frames for and add finishing touches to our woolly/furry/hairy exoskeletons.
It's entirely up to you whether you come to one or both workshops.
The idea is to point you in the right direction and provide inspiration and techniques, rather than to walk you through building a costume step by step.
If you have some time of your own before or after either workshop, you will have a more elaborate or sturdy costume, likewise with providing your own materials. However if you want to throw something together just at the workshop, we reckon we can help you make the best of it!
We will have materials and/or advice for:
Making a wire framework for your head piece.
Making a headpiece from other found materials.
Affixing fabric or mache to your framework.
Making a basic cape dress/body cover
And we'll answering tricky questions such as:
How do I fit on the bus?
What the hell do I wear on my feet?
How do I kiss someone at midnight?
Why?
If you have them, please bring:
Old clothing, especially anything of a large amount of fabric, furry, leathery or muslin. Rugs, linen, cloths. Anything you have in multiples, buttons, yoghurt pots, bottle lids, pine needles, odd socks. Please only bring clean things!
Wire, glue, paints and general craft things will be provided but if you have some to spare please bring them. Extra sewing machines, glue guns, scissors etc will be useful.
Some materials will have a cost but most are included in the suggested donations of: £3 for those attending NYE event and £5 for those not. No-one turned away for lack of funds.
