JOYCE THE LIBRARIAN
Joyce the Librarian have been winning fans from a variety of key underground sources and in 2013 they’re set to win a lot more.
Their début full-length, “They May Put Land Between Us” was released on Folkwit Records in November 2012 to critical acclaim, receiving airplay from the likes of Gideon Coe, Lauren Lavern and Jen Long along the way. These stripped-back recordings have a warm, organic feel about them that comes from taking on most of the production duties themselves and is only enhanced by the mix and master work done by Ali Chant (M Ward, PJ Harvey, Gruff Rhys, Perfume Genius).
The first single from this record, “Follow Me, I’m Right Behind You”, sums up Joyce the Librarian’s songwriting. Showcasing honest, personal and acutely melodic songwriting, there is no pretence or allusions to passing trends. “Seven Swans”-era Sufjan Stevens, M Ward and Simon & Garfunkel inform the group’s sound but ultimately theirs is entirely one of their own.
"A really, really good album" - Gideon Coe, BBC 6 Music
"An immaculate confection" - Clash Magazine
"A frequently gorgeous collection of beautifully hewn folk songs" - The Independent
ROGER TARRY
"Aloe vera for the soul" (Venue)
"Roger's own distinctive vision, peaceful overall and yet with darker overtones, is accurately conveyed in his fragile and poignantly expressive music on this treasurable disc" (David Kidman, FATEA)
THE WEARY BAND
"Sharp lyrics, lazily seductive phrasing and all-enveloping warmth" (Julian Owen, Venue).
On the night there'll be a stall of second-hand books to exchange with audience members.
