Le Juki + Livid Strippers

(Saturday 13 July / 8pm / £4 advance, £5 on the door)

A frankly mental vocal innovator, a virtuoso guitarist/composer and a
synth-obsessed viola player... LE JUKI are never usual.

Harmony-heavy trio Kassia Zermon (Bunty, Resonators), Lee Westwood (Lee Westwood Ensemble, Dizraeli and the Small Gods) and Jules Arthur (Beatabet, Dizraeli and the Small Gods) have come together to play you songs full of frayed string melodies and twisted synthesizers. Toy box beats and violas sing of the sea and stick insects, with beautiful soaring strings and crashing skiffle-based percussion. Treasure trove tunes for wretched folk.

Referencing classical, prog, grime and psych-folk, Le Juki blend lush harmonies and progressive song structures with a child-like simplicity. Their own combination of virtuosity and musical primitivism, and a very adventurous approach to composition, is both familiar yet totally unique.

LIVID STRIPPERS is the lovechild of Xenia Randle from Cat Green Bike, and Joe Urwin & Lee Abecasis from Actual Bird. They make dark folky electronica. Sort of. Lullaby vocals on top of dark big boom grooves.
