Enjoy a plate of sushi and saki with the acclaimed animated tale Midori-Ko!
Set in a near-future Tokyo plagued by a food shortage, director Keita Kurosaka’s animated film, Midori-Ko, examines how one’s beliefs can be tested in times of crisis. Kurosaka needed more than a decade’s work and almost 30,000 drawings, completely hand-drawn in coloured pencils, to produce Midori-ko, a dazzling, atmospheric “paranoid fairy tale”, as it has been called. Midori-ko is its own unique kind of animated classic, one that takes today's present day
environmental concerns and puts them into realms of imagination that most of us would never have dreamed possible.
Midori-Ko will screen with a Japanese short film.
