An intimate solo performance by Nick Talbot, the Warp-signed Bristol
songwriter/multi-instrumentalist who performs as GRAVENHURST. The music has the fragile, transcendent quality of Low or Bon Iver, but with intriguing, enigmatic lyrics about evil and lacking trust. Haunting guitar shapes and drifting harmonies and shimmering effects, with hooks as addictive as anything in mainstream pop. A poet of blissed-out feedback and literary dark thought.
Inventive and unconventional, SJ ESAU makes pop music, in the most challenging sense of the phrase.

Praise for latest album The Ghost In Daylight

“Warp’s unsung genius delivers mellow masterpiece… Gravenhurst has made an album as good as anything his revered record label has released in the last decade. Evocative of Nick Drake’s understated English melancholia and the lush, moody atmospherics of late-‘70s Brian Eno… An exquisite, unexpected gem.” **** Q
“Terrific understated songs with a church-like serenity… Talbot is one of music’s best kept secrets” **** The Guardian

“Stunning” ***** Artrocker

“A special album” **** Stool Pigeon

“Talbot has created a uniquely potent blend of icy chill and soothing balm, and with it that rarest of things: totally cliché-dodging songwriting” The Line Of Best Fit

“The Ghost in Daylight is a memory-haunted journey through the dead voices and deep narratives of Englands lost; broadside ballads culled from earth and air” Mojo

“The Ghost in Daylight is a wondrous thing” Quietus

“Magnificent” **** Time Out

“Possibly Britain’s most underrated singer/songwriter” **** Telegraph

“We really should be thankful that we have people like Talbot still plugging away, honing their peculiar craft with artistic and moral compass still intact.” Quietus Albums Of The Year So Far 2012 (Gravenhurst at # 10)
