MICROCOSM / Public Discussion on Buying the Building / 4pm
This historic building has for decades been a place for DIY arts and
film-making, social experimentation, providing refuge from the mainstream and hub for bold and radical thinking. Join us today to learn more, to offer help, to question our strategy and hear our future plans as the buying group tell all and answer your queries.
MICROCOSM / Public Screening: The American Astronaut / 6pm
Cube favourite, The American Astronaut, will be screened from 35mm. Directed by Cory McAbee, 2003, it's a musical set in space but astronauts look like cowboys and it is AMAZING.
MICROCOSM / Evening Performances / 8pm till late
A hyper colour series of rapid-fire, intercut 20 minute performances will pop up all around the Cube's historic building. Budding new music acts whizz and pop, scientific boffins astound, crazed live arts reveal all while amateur dramatics, analogue actions and magical cabaret all clamour for your attention. Putting things into and out of perspective will be cinematic flashes from the archives, shorts from Bluescreen and video cut ups from Cubesters past and present.
ACTS: Rasha Shaheen and Jessica Marlowe, BugBrand, Hogge, Lady Lucy, Rod Maclachlan, Tom Marshman and Liz Clarke [Beacons, Icons and Dykons] China Fish and Sal Harrington, David Hopkinson, Zuleika Gregory, Expensive, Cube Cola lab, Olanza, Alex Bertram-Powell, Hannah Godfrey, LTA, the Bioskop and many others still to be confirmed.
Loosen your joints later as the dance floor gets lubed up by Mr Hopkinson and guests.
Feral Trade, Cube Cola and home baked cakes and snacks will be on hand to minister to your food and refreshment needs throughout the day.
