(George A Romero / 1988 / USA / 18 certificate / 113 minutes)
What happens when deranged scientists and crazed genetically enhanced monkeys meet? Murder, murder happens. They're not your primates!
Our first feature will be George A Romero's rarely screened Monkey Shines (1988). With special effects from the Sultan of Splatter, Tom Savini, and an early appearance from Stanley Tucci with hair.
Alan goes for a jog one day only to be hit by a truck and wakes up a
quadriplegic. Stuck with a nurse worse than Ratchet, things start look up when he gets helper monkey Ella. Man and monkey build a telepathic relationship but Alan's mind turns to murder...
This film has mad scientists injecting monkeys with human brain particles, a quadriplegic sex scene and a murderous mind-reading monkey.
Our second film is a Mexican exploitation feature and one of the original 72 'video nasties' banned in the UK in which a deranged doctor
creates a weird were-monkey monster.
