A Qu Junktion

The wonderful singer-songwriter brings a band to make good the swooping, swaying melodies of her impressive song book. At the heart of the show will be the colourful, warm and flowing singalongs and atmospheric tracks that make up her critically acclaimed Blood Rushing album. American gothic, breathless folk and mountain music are all drawn upon by the band with Spanish guitar maestro Victor Herrero channelling textures and Trembling Bells' stickman Alex Neilson providing the rhythm while Paz Lenchantin from the Entrance Band/Silver Jews is on bass/violin.

The album is a glimpse into the world of Blushing, a heteronym of the artist Josephine Foster. A rock-ballet chante, the music is set to the meta-pulsing Pan-- American heartbeat of the Pueblo drum and you can really feel a sense of ancient American folk history being channelled. Josephine Foster is so much more than a confessional singer and she takes you to such different/poetical places that her fan base is wide eyed and fans of Little Wings, Brightblack Morning Light, Jefferson Airplane, Coco Rosie, Patty Waters, Will Oldham and Robert Wyatt should all see a fellow free willed traveller.

Dan Haywood’s New Hawks are a band, whose epic scope marries transatlantic cosmic roots music with a poetic and soulful British folk. A rambling, rolling band whose starry eyed stage presence, with various players swapping instruments and psychic powers amongst themselves, has already assured them cult status.
"A wild-eyed mix of cosmic country and chamber-folk, this makes for a thrilling noise” UNCUT
