(Sun 17th / 7pm & 9pm / £5/4)
In celebration of Bristol Refugee Week, the Bristol Defend The Asylum Seekers Campaign group along with film Director Sue Clayton bring you a special screening of Hamedullah: The Road Home.
Every year around 2000 lone children come to the UK from war-zones such as Afghanistan and Iraq. As children they’re protected by the UK Children Act. They settle into British life, do well at school, make friends… As soon as they turn 18 they’re arrested by the Home Office in brutal dawn raids, held without further trial, then flown out on secret ‘ghost flights’ to be dumped, back in the war zones they fled as children.
No one tracks them or is allowed to… until now.
Director Sue Clayton will be introducing Hamedullah: The Road Home and discussing the film. We will have two screenings (7pm and 9pm) as well as a Q&A session at the end. We will also be screening an award winning short animation from director Tim Travers about the inhumane detention system in use across the UK.
