Beards And Tongues

-
Sat 26 May 2012 // 20:00

(Saturday 26 May / 8pm / £6 advance)

A coming-together of three gran-artistes, mutual admirers and exceptional talents: Dorian Wood (USA), Sef (Spain) and Nathaniel Robin Mann (UK).
Each performer brings his unique shade to the proceedings; Dorian's dark Waits-y theatrics, complimented perfectly by Sef's sweet showmanship and Nathaniel's rustic folksiness. The trio will perform interlocking sets, including both their own solo material and harbouring new collaborations.

Los Angeles-based artist Dorian Wood is "armed with a vocal charisma that would befit a preacher and an experimental streak that would make avant-gardists swoon" (WNYC Culture). His sound marries troubadour balladry with the
avant-garde, both as a soloist and as a member of the 30-piece experimental orchestra, Killsonic.

Sef is the musical alias of Christian Fernández Mirón, Spanish artist and educator obsessed with small instruments and intimacy. His sweet singing voice flutters over ukulele and baby piano, often engaging in spontaneous
collaborations through backing choirs, shouts and cries produced by amused audience members.

Nathaniel Robin Mann, aka Animateddog, is perhaps better know as one third of the performance outfit Dead Rat Orchestra. His solo explorations chart diverse realms, from the folk vernacular to the best of Disney showtunes. Within the Dead Rat Orchestra, Nathaniel has collaborated closely with Baby Dee, Marc Almond and Eric Chenuax.
