Les Diaboliques is an icily brilliant suspense thriller that even fifty years on, still has the power to scare the heebie-jeebies out of audiences.

In a run-down private boy’s school, headmaster Michel rules alongside his teacher wife Christina, a fragile woman with a weak heart. Another teacher at the school Nicole, is Michel’s mistress. Christina and Nicole have a close relationship, united by their hatred of Michel, who physically and emotionally abuses both.
The two women decide they have had enough and plot to kill Michel. Using the cover of the half-term holiday away from the school, they drug and drown him, dumping his body in the school’s algae-covered swimming pool, hoping to make it look like an accident. Soon a series of mysterious events begins to make Christina paranoid, attracting the attention of retired detective Fichet.
