(John McKenzie / 1974 / UK / 90 minutes)

Adapted from John McGrath’s play for his 7/84 theatre company (named after the statistic that showed 7% of Britain's people owned 84% of the country's wealth), this film documents the systematic eviction, robbery and murder visited on the people of the Scottish Highlands since the 18th century, and celebrates those brave enough to fight back. From the atrocities of the clearances in the early 19th century to the discovery of North Sea oil in the 20th, the film combines dramatic reconstruction, theatrical performance and documentary footage to a damning critique of the many manifestations of the ruling class.

A rare screening of a landmark work in British radical film history, this is not to be missed.
