Hellfire Video Club Presents Italia Violenta Featuring Almost Human

-
Fri 23 March 2012 // 20:00

(Fri 23rd March / 8pm / £5 / Over 18s only)

It’s all guns-a-blazing for this instalment of the Hellfire Video Club, as we present a night of poliziotteschi (Italian crime films). Back in the 1970s, the Italians made some of the most violent and stylish cop thrillers to ever hit the screen. Expect a night of non-stop punch-ups, big cars (and big weapons), and moustachioed, turtle-neck clad vigilante cops with so much raw testosterone that they make Dirty Harry look like a bed-wetting mummies boy. Can you smell that heady aroma of burnt rubber and Brut yet?

Tonight’s main offering is the classic ‘Almost Human’, directed by Umberto Lenzi in 1974. Tomas Milian stars as a remorseless sociopath who kidnaps a
millionaire’s daughter. Cue Henry Silva - the police inspector who will stop at nothing to bring Milian to justice.

This will be followed by another classic poliziottesco, featuring a pair of deadly crime lords whose gang war tears Rome apart.

As ever, the Hellfire DJs will be spinning tunes in the bar. Expect to hear plenty of rare Italian soundtracks.
