The Cardboard Apocalypse

-
Sat 31 December 2011 // 20:00

(Saturday 31st / 8pm - Sunday 1st / 4am / £12 door, £10 advance)

It is the future. Global economies have melted. Liquid assets are frozen. Society has collapsed and we are going to rebuild it with a glue gun. Tonight the Cube is PARTY headquarters and we are going to dance into tomorrow. Come early for apocalyptic musical performances from the eclectic Cube Orchestra, Klad Hest (the artist formally known as Team Brick) and vocal sirens the Rusty Pins. Ratface, Bristol's finest bedsit MC, will take us up to midnight with his infectious punky hip-hop (http://www.myspace.com/ratfacemuzak). And then after midnight DJs in the bar until the birds sing. Prizes for the best cardboard costumes plus more silliness.

THE END IS DIY!
Line-up (not in order of appearance)

Ratface / Klad Hest / Mr Hopkinson / Rusty Pins / The Amber Nectar / Will Newsome / The Cardboard Chorus Line / Lionel Ritchie and the Wardrobe.
The Rusty Pins - The world's one and only attackapella girl group, featuring an interactive apocalypse animation and cardboard choir. With classic songs like 'Jelly Candle’ and 'Pots and Pans’ teamed with singalongs like ‘Eggs’, we guarantee you’ll be singing their songs all new year!

Klad Hest - Electro brain-melt wizardry.

The Amber Nectar - will play a pared-down ambient set of dusty half-broken ancient sampling keyboards and other battery-powered bits and pieces.

Will Newsome - Songs sung on kora, anticipating flight and the fall.

The Cardboard Chorus Line Presents - Robo-geisha meets Godfather. How
apocalyptic you want it, Baby-san? Domo arigato, Mr Roboto 0101110.

Lionel Ritchie and the Wardrobe -
Concluding their European tour in the quaint English fishing village of Cube.
AND DJS TO DANCE FOR!

Other great things: cardboard tube-fighting competition; binary code translator; lucky dip; fortune reading by the Oracle in the Void; fire and projections in the garden.

More apocalyptic madness to follow!
