Bristol Ferment Presents 30 Cecil Street By Dan Canham

-
Mon 10 October 2011 // 19:30

(Mon 10th to Wed 12th October / 7pm doors for 7.30pm / £8/6)

Dan Canham's (Kneehigh, DV8, Punchdrunk, Fabulous Beast) spine-tingling dance- theatre solo returns to the Cube for three nights only.

Developed through Bristol Old Vic's Ferment programme, 30 Cecil Street is an eloquent and heartbreaking elegy for a lost and ruined theatre in Limerick - a moving performance of fragments of memories, of wild nights and long-disappeared communities.

Made with support from Arts Council England, Escalator Performing Arts, Bristol Ferment at Bristol Old Vic and Battersea Arts Centre.

Living sculptures, in stillness observing and then moving as the sea ebbs and drags beside them, it is as if the whole sea separates them. With viewpoints from both afar and from within the intimate spaces of the dancers, we watch the movement conversations taking place between them, their stories somehow connecting them to each other and to the sea. As time shifts from one scene to the next and we move from one state to another, moments of contact and tenderness are juxtaposed with a sense of solitude. The film unnerves us with its restless nature.
