Viva Riva! is a fast paced Congolese gangster movie, a genre movie laced with brutality and sex, but also revealing a vibrant modern view of Kinshasa's ghetto rarely seen in film and magnetically exciting to watch.

Directed by Djo Munga, the owner of the only movie production studio in Kinshasa, Viva Riva! has great performances from the almost entire cast of Congolese actors. The view point is fresh and dangerous, the corruption pervasive. Riva steals a cart load of petrol - more precious than gold, and the race is on to sell it fast at the highest price, stay out of the clutches of a super bad crime-boss Azor, and stay alive. The tension is knife-edge as Riva tries to dodge the violence, sell the petrol - oh yes... and get the sexy girl.
