‘Songbird of the melancholy midnight’ (Venue magazine) Jacques, a robin is an explorer of existential depths and childlike reveries, singing his songs of hope and obsession in a warm, powerful but delicate baritone voice.
At the Cube he launches his début album ‘Statuettes’ (Hortus), co-produced with Stew Jackson (Phantom Limb, Massive Attack) and featuring ‘7 anatomies of melancholy’, 7 stories based on archetypal characters caught in dreamy and eerie atmospheres.
A chamber-pop album featuring 16 musicians and reminiscent of Antony and the Johnsons, 4AD, dark-folk and a soft indie-pop vein, ‘Statuettes’ will be performed by a smaller ensemble at the Cube, with more songs from Jacques’ surreal repertoire, visuals and poetry.
