Rachael Dadd turns her hands to a multitude of instruments including banjo, piano, guitar, clarinet and harmonium. Following the success of her Moth In The Motor mini-album, and her Elephee EP, Rachael is getting ready for her new album Bite The Mountain (set for release through Broken Sound Music in July 2011).
Ichi, from Nagoya in Japan, takes the notion of a one-man band to new limits - combining steel-drum with ping-pong balls, tape-loops with double bass and trumpet with bongos, all in the space of one short set. There's an ancient, ritualistic feel to his performances. At the same time, his music is so playful and unusual, it gives you the feeling that you're witnessing something entirely new. It's fun, it's danceable, it's exciting. His new album Memo combines the raucous energy of street music in West Africa, the pastoral reflectiveness of goat-herders and the humour of Monty Python.
Coming out of Bristol and Paris, This Is the Kit is the musical project of Kate Stables, who sings and plays banjo and guitar, sometimes solo and other times plays with a bunch of musicians including Jesse D Vernon of Morning Star.
Plus a veggie barbecue if the weather's fine.
