Dir: Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman/ USA/ 2010/ 84 mins/ cert 15

Its Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman's first narrative film (following The Times of Harvey Milk and The Celluloid Closet) and with a mixed bag of animation and narrative strands, reviews have been divided...either as an absorbing
characterisation of the radical and exciting moment that has created Howl into a literary and political myth or - what? a messy approach.
It's certainly ambitious and original.

Using Allen Ginsberg’s famous poem as the focal point (obviously), Howl looks at three different parts of the myth. The poem itself, Ginsberg himself, and the obscenity trial that tried to ban the publication of Howl and prosecute its publisher.
Starring James Franco as A.G.
