(Thurs 16th / 8pm / £5/4)
(Fredrick Wiseman / USA / 158 minutes / Certificate PG)

In our continuing season exploring the nature and scope of documentary films on the big screen at The Cube, What The Eye Sees presents Fredrick Wiseman's study of The Paris Opera Ballet.

Wiseman is considered one of America's finest contemporary documentary film makers. He has chronicled many western institutions, and this is his 38th film in 40 years of documentary film making. La Danse is a typically poetic experience for the viewer, achieving grace and quiet transcendence in the captured details of behaviour backstage during rehearsals leading to the season of ballet runs at The Paris Opera Ballet. Shot on 16mm this film is worth the patient watching.
