Tonight is a very special event celebrating the influential, uncompromising, controversial yet surprisingly beautiful artistic legacy of Peter "Sleazy" Christopherson.
As a member of the seminal post punk/industrial electronic outfits Throbbing Gristle, Psychic TV And Coil (arguably the first openly and provocatively gay duo in popular music) and his own ThresholdHouseBoysChoir he explored subjects as diverse as paganism, body rituals, scatology, the occult, obscure psychedelic drugs and patterns within nature. A frequent collaborator with the late film maker Derek Jarman, as well as a prolific video director in his own right, he also designed many seminal 70s album covers as one third of Hipgnosis.
The night will be introduced by acclaimed author and editor at large of The Wire, Rob Young (Electric Eden / Undercurrents... the hidden wiring of modern music). Expect films, live art projections and body art from Liz Clarke [Betty Bruiser] and Nick Kilby [in collaboration with noise artist/sound sculptor Sardonik Grin], special secret musical guests [including a special set in the bar from The Man From Uranus and Bronnt Industries Kapital performing a set of immersive Lovecraftian electronics/visuals] and DJs from Dirty Talk Disco and the cube spinning esoteric sounds from post punk and industrial to acid, electronica, occult neo-folk and tribal sounds.
